Key event information

We know planning a great weekend takes a little prep! This is your go to page for all the need to know details.

We've covered everything from booking and planning ahead and accessibility to what happens if it rains.

A quick read here will ensure your Hinterland Treasure Trail experience is seamless and stress free.

About the event

  • It’s a wonderful celebration of our local produce, talents, and countryside, taking place on the first weekend in December. You can follow an event trail, visit local farms, pick your own sunflowers, take producer tours, and relax at various event hubs. It's a chance to make genuine connections with the hard-working artisans of the region.

  • All comprehensive event information is available on this website. For the latest updates, sneak peeks, and real-time information, please follow us on our socials @treasuretrail3r.

  • The event is a celebration of local, land-based businesses, and will proceed in light showers, wind, or warm weather. Please come prepared for the elements (see "What should I wear?"). The event will only be postponed in the event of extreme wet weather, bushfires or other natural disasters. If this happens, your ticket will be transferred to the new date or refunded if you cannot attend.

Booking and planning ahead

  • Yes, we strongly recommend you check our program and book ahead for any workshops or specific experiences you wish to enjoy. Many bookable activities have limited numbers, so booking is the only way to guarantee your spot.

  • No, limited reception should be expected in some locations. Please plan your trip and check maps/directions beforehand so this does not affect your day.

  • You can stay up-to-date with all things Treasure Trail by:

    • Registering your email via the website.

    • Liking us on Facebook / Instagram @treasuretrail3r.

    • Buying your ticket!

  • Some of our event hubs are on farms or remote properties and have limited access to cash points or ATM facilities. Please plan ahead and bring cash so you can easily enjoy all the activities and purchase local produce.

Many makers will have the capacity to accept cards, and we will endeavor to update the full list soon.

However cash can be withdrawn from Woodville Store or the Hinton Pub.

Accessibility and walking

  • You should be prepared to walk! There will be a stroll at almost all locations between the parking facilities and the event location.

Being land based enterprise, many of the locations involve gravel, uneven terrain & “unkept” areas.

  • Unfortunately, the weekend will be quite challenging for those with limited mobility. Since you will be visiting working farm properties, uneven terrain is frequently encountered between parking and the event hubs.

Some vendors (such as Happy Ever After Coffee and The Barn at Urban Connection) have facilities for limited mobility - and we endeavor to update this with a full list soon.

Pets

  • Some properties are allowing your furry friends to accompany you. They must be leashed at all times, and you are responsible for catering to their needs (water and 'poop patrol').

Please plan your entire day and ensure that all your stops allow pets before deciding to bring them with you.

  • Yes, please note that Gumnut Valley Alpacas, Tocal, The Gump Farm and Urban Connection are strictly NO PETS properties.

Getting around and safety

  • There will be specific car parking instructions at each event location. Please follow all directions upon arrival. Signs will be hung.

Adapt your speed to suit when entering an area where people are parking and please engage your respect and common sense when choosing a parking location.

  • We urge everyone to drive safely. Expect some delays around event hubs due to increased traffic. Be aware that you may encounter:

    • Unfamiliar roads, including gravel sections and potholes.

    • Trail participants who may be walking.

    • Domesticated and wild animals on or near the roads.

    • Soft ground in some parking areas.

    • Uneven and rutted ground. Please be aware of your cars capability.

Please ensure you are licensed, fit to drive, and aware of legal alcohol limits. Your car must be registered, insured and roadworthy.

  • The safety of small children is completely your responsibility. Many farms have open water, large animals, electric fences, and natural hazards. We require all children to be within eyesight of their parents at all times. We also ask that you manage their behavior to avoid detriment to the operation of the businesses you are visiting.

  • For your safety, please always stay with your guide. Do not wander off, open gates, or venture into other areas without explicit permission.

What to wear and bring

  • Since you will be outdoors in December (high time for our slithery companions) and walking on uneven terrain; sensible, enclosed shoes are recommended (though ultimately your choice). Hats and well covering clothing are also advised—don't wear your 'best' weekend clothes. Check the forecast and bring a raincoat/umbrella if light showers are predicted.

    • Water bottles are a must!

    • If you plan on buying perishable items (like produce), an esky in your car is a good idea.

    • For freshly picked flowers, a bucket of water in your car will help keep them fresh.

    • If you plan to eat food for sale at In Our Hands Family Farm, Hunter Valley Sunflowers, Gumnut Valley Alpacas, or The Coffee Cubby, a picnic blanket is a great idea for relaxing while you eat.

    • All vendors will appreciate your commitment to keeping the local area beautiful. So bring a plate, cup and cutlery, and use your own instead of the disposable junk that ruin this beutiful home we have!

  • Will my photo be taken at the event? Your photo may be taken while you enjoy the trail for promotional purposes for next year's event.

How can I share my own photos? We would love to see your photos! Please tag us with #hinterlandtreasuretrail or email a link to gather@hinterlandtreasuretrail.com.au.
